SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of John "Jack" M. Hartnett, who passed away on December 7, 2014; and

WHEREAS, John Hartnett was born on January 19, 1940 in Chicago; his parents were Maurice and Mary (nee Quinlan) Hartnett; he married Mary Fox on March 17, 1963 in Chicago; and

WHEREAS, John Hartnett retired from Consolidated Freightways after 34 years of service; he later worked for Smith Engineering for 10 years; and

WHEREAS, John Hartnett was preceded in death by his parents; 3 sisters, Rose Ryan, Norita Hickey, and Patricia Collins; and a brother, Edward Hartnett; and

WHEREAS, John Hartnett is survived by his wife, Mary; 3 children, Timothy (Maureen) Hartnett, Alison (Timothy) Anderson, and Jo Ellen (Brennan) Thornton; 4 grandchildren, Joshua Hartnett, Eric Hartnett, Wesley Gardner, and Megan Gardner; his granddogs, Wyatt, Josie, Archie, and Lulu; a sister, Kathleen "Peaches" (Mario) Ricciarelli; and his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of John "Jack" M. Hartnett; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of John Hartnett as an expression of our sympathy.
