SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Kenneth LeRoy Pritz, R.Ph. of Joliet, who
4passed away on April 12, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Kenneth Pritz was the CEO, President, and
6pharmacist of J.D. Brown & Company - the oldest drug store in
7the State of Illinois; he and his wife were co-founders of The
8Peanut Gallery, The Gift Box, and The Jacob Henry Mansion,
9where he served as President; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Kenneth Pritz served as a Joliet City Councilman;
11he also worked with The Bicentennial Park, Downtown Development
12Committee, the Governor of Illinois' Clean and Beautiful Board,
13the Joliet Youth Task Force, Habitat for Humanity, the Joliet
14Region Chamber of Commerce, the JJC Foundation, the Cathedral
15Area Preservation Association, the Pharmaceutical Association,
16and the Joliet Kiwanis; he served as an Elder of the First
17Presbyterian Church of Joliet and was a member of Wish Upon a
18Star and the Moran Club; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Kenneth Pritz received numerous accolades during
20his life, including the Illinois Chamber of Commerce,
21Business/Retailer/Man of the Year award; the Joliet Chamber of
22Commerce Outstanding Small Business of the Year Award, 2005;

1the Joliet Area Historical Society Mary Barr West Award; the
2Heritage Corridor Tourism Cultural Heritage Award; the
3Cathedral area Preservation Association Annual Preservation
4Award; and numerous other pharmaceutical and civic accolades;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Kenneth Pritz enjoyed traveling and photography;
7he was an avid fan of U of I, the Chicago Cubs, the Chicago
8Bears, and loved spending time with his family; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Kenneth Pritz was preceded in death by his
10parents, Raymond O. and Agnes (Facinelli) Pritz and his father
11and mother-in- law, Vivian and Raymond Kilgos; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Kenneth Pritz is survived by his wife of 56 years,
13Carol S. (nee Kilgos); his 6 children, Susan (Larry) Bornhofen,
14Jeff (Laura) Pritz, Jill (Dave) Umek, Anne (John) Doll, John
15(Annette) Pritz, and Jim (Dawn) Pritz; his 21 grandchildren,
16Elisabeth (Joe) Adler, Sarah (Jeremy) Orr, Amanda (Tommy)
17Moretti, Anna Bornhofen, Megan (Joe) Felix, Matt and Vivian
18Pritz, Stephanie, Adam, Maggie, Nick and Abbey Umek, Julie and
19Jennifer Doll, Shyla, Ally, Connor, and Taytum Pritz, and Alex,
20Thomas, and Ava Pritz; his 3 great-grandchildren, Joseph Adler,
21V, Vivian Orr, and Claire Moretti, with one more
22great-grandchild due in May; his 2 sisters, Shirley
23(James-deceased) Monday and Joann (Clare "Monk") Moore; and his

1many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
4Kenneth LeRoy Pritz, R.Ph., and extend our sincere condolences
5to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
6it further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8presented to the family of Kenneth Pritz as an expression of
9our deepest sympathy.
