SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Jarid L. Ott of Staunton, who passed away on April 5, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Jarid Ott was born on August 20, 1941 in Litchfield; his parents were Robert A. Ott and Nigel B. (nee Coalson) Ott; he married Judith Kay (nee Paris) Ott on September 2, 1961 at St. Michael's the Archangel Church in Staunton; and

WHEREAS, Jarid Ott worked as a civil engineer for the State of Illinois and the engineering firm of Sverdup and Parcel in St. Louis, Missouri for many years; in 1975, he made a complete career change and worked for Metropolitan Insurance for the next 31 years until his retirement in 2006; at the time of his passing, he served as the corresponding secretary for the Macoupin County Genealogical Society; he was also involved with the ITS Trail Organization; and

WHEREAS, Jarid Ott enjoyed traveling with his wife, spending time with his grandchildren, working in his yard, and St. Louis Cardinals baseball; and

WHEREAS, Jarid Ott was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, Jarid Ott is survived by his wife, Judith; 2 daughters, Cynthia (Michael) Peters and Kimberly (Richard) Garde; and 3 grandchildren, Victoria Peters (Matthew Valdez), Rachel Garde (Ross Bellm), and Zachary Garde; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Jarid L. Ott; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jarid Ott as an expression of our sympathy.
