SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Benjamin Allison of Crystal Lake, who passed away on January 27, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Benjamin Allison was born in Royal Oak, Michigan on July 26, 1994 to Timothy E. and Melissa A. (nee Smith) Allison; he took an active interest in hockey at the age of 3, and at age of 4, he started playing hockey in Birmingham, Michigan; in 2005, the family moved to Crystal Lake where he started the sixth grade; he played hockey for the Barrington Red Wings for a year, and then for the Crystal Lake Leafs until entering high school; at Crystal Lake South High School, he was a member of the hockey team, graduating in 2012; following high school, he followed his passion and played for the Dells Ducks; and

WHEREAS, Benjamin Allison attended McHenry County Community College in 2013 and became an assistant hockey coach at Crystal Lake South; in the fall of 2014, he enrolled at Illinois State University (ISU) in Normal, majoring in broadcast communications; he was chosen to be a radio personality at ISU and had recently been promoted to assistant director for the traffic department at WZND Radio; and

WHEREAS, Benjamin Allison was a member of the USA Hockey Development Program and refereed hockey games; he enjoyed his family, friends, hedgehogs, and playing his X-Box; and

WHEREAS, Benjamin Allison is survived by his parents; his grandparents, Steve (Maureen) Smith and Fred M. Allison; several aunts, uncles, cousins; and his girlfriend, Melissa Warder; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Benjamin Allison, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Benjamin Allison as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
