SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Elizabeth Lorraine "Betty" Walker of Johnsburg, who passed away on October 28, 2016 at the age of 88; and

WHEREAS, Elizabeth Walker was born in Chicago to Robert Emmett and Clara (Vacha) Gorman on June 9, 1928; she married Charles A. Walker in Chicago on July 19, 1980; and

WHEREAS, Elizabeth Walker received her Bachelor of Arts in Education and Master of Arts in Education and Administration and was employed in the field of Education for her entire career; she served as a principal and administrator for the Chicago Public School System for over 30 years; prior to retiring, she was principal at Robert Morris Elementary School in Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Elizabeth Walker was a faithful parishioner of St. John the Baptist Church in Johnsburg; and

WHEREAS, Elizabeth Walker was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Charles A. Walker; and

WHEREAS, Elizabeth Walker is survived by her sister, Mary Ann (the late Peter) Spelson; her nephews and nieces, Gregory (Lisa) Spelson, Katherine Spelson, Peter Spelson, and Kristine (Stephen) Petno; her two great-nieces and a great-nephew, Emily, Maria, and James; and her three stepchildren, Charles Jr. (Lois) Walker, James (Marietta) Walker, and Mary (Ronald) Orzech; and a number of step-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of Elizabeth Lorraine "Betty" Walker, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Elizabeth Walker as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
