SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Patricia "Pat" Cervantes of Woodstock, who passed away on November 13, 2016 at the age of 80; and

WHEREAS, Patricia Cervantes was born in Woodstock to Robert and Harriet Mansfield on March 15, 1936; she graduated from Alden-Hebron High School in 1954; she married Ralph Cervantes at Grace Lutheran Church in Woodstock on October 11, 1975; and

WHEREAS, Patricia Cervantes worked at the McHenry State Bank for 30 years; she was committed to extending her love to those in need; she befriended residents of the SEDOM center, delivered Meals-on-Wheels, and visited people who were homebound for many years; she was a faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church, an officer of the former Kishwaukee Valley Garden Club, and the coordinator of the Bridge Marathon for Adult & Child Therapy Services; she enjoyed playing bridge with four different clubs, including one that has been meeting for almost 50 years; she liked attending the Living Series at the Opera House and Concerts on the Square regularly, and going to as many of her grandchildren's events as she could; she loved the color purple, butterflies, flowers, Elvis, and cows; she will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, her thoughtfulness, and especially for her devotion to her family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Patricia Cervantes was preceded in death by her parents, Harriet and Robert; her husband, Ralph; her brothers, Howard and Frank; and her nephews, Curtis, Edward, and Timothy; and

WHEREAS, Patricia Cervantes is survived by her daughters, Sue (Don) Trede, Lisa (Mike) Frauens, Margaret Cervantes, Laura Cervantes and Jennifer Cervantes; her grandchildren, Brad (Courtney) Trede, Lauryn Trede, Bret Wienke, Shannon Cervantes, Jared (Alyssa) Wienke, Andrew Frauens, and Kirsten Frauens; her four great-grandchildren; her brothers, Russell and John Mansfield; and her many cherished nephews, nieces, in-laws, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of Patricia "Pat" Cervantes, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Patricia Cervantes as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
