SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Lawrence W. Baier Sr. of Woodstock, who passed away on November 8, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Lawrence Baier Sr. was born in Chicago to Fred and Susan (Parry) Baier on December 15, 1931; he married Janice Reckers at St. Cyprian Catholic Church in River Grove on May 30, 1959; and

WHEREAS, Lawrence Baier Sr. spent most of his life serving the Elmwood Park Fire Department, where he rose to the rank of Captain; he was a member of the Illinois Professional Firefighters Association; after retirement, he served the Woodstock community as a school bus driver for District 200; and

WHEREAS, Lawrence Baier Sr. enjoyed camping, eagle watching, and many summers spent at his cabin in Minnesota; most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his loving family; and

WHEREAS, Lawrence Baier Sr. was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Nicholas; and his sister-in-law, Gerry Baier; and

WHEREAS, Lawrence Baier Sr. is survived by his wife of 57 years, Janice; his son, Lawrence W. (Julie) Baier Jr.; his daughter, Margaret (Lynn) Baier; his grandchildren, Rachel (Jeremy), Jacob, and Ellie; his great-grandchildren, Emma and Madelyn; his brothers, Fred (Billie) Baier, Donald Baier, and Norman (Kay) Baier; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Lawrence W. Baier Sr., and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Lawrence Baier Sr. as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
