SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Gary L. DeCraene of Bettendorf, Iowa, formerly of Moline, who passed away on December 18, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Gary DeCraene was born in Moline to Cyriel "Cy" and Selena Elizabeth "Liz" (VanOpdorp) DeCraene on September 22, 1938; he served in the United States Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS Essex CVA-9; he married Betty Ritter at Sacred Heart Church in Moline on June 6, 1961; and

WHEREAS, In his early years, Gary DeCraene worked at the store owned and operated by his parents, Black Hawk Hardware; and

WHEREAS, Gary DeCraene had an affinity for antique cars, especially his 1936 Dodge Truck; he enjoyed taking care of his yard at home; and

WHEREAS, Gary DeCraene is survived by his wife, Betty; his son, Rick (Cheryl) DeCraene; his daughter, Pam French; his grandchildren, Rachel, Dana, Spencer, Luke, and Mya; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Gary L. DeCraene, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Gary DeCraene as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
