SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Peggy Minch Rust Johnson of Bloomington, who passed away on November 26, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Peggy Johnson was born in Bloomington to Frank P. and Dorothy O. McBride Minch on December 14, 1928; she married Laurence A. "Larry" Rust Jr. on September 2, 1950; she later married Earle B. Johnson Sr. on April 30, 1972; and

WHEREAS, Peggy Johnson great pride in being a homemaker, in cooking, in raising her children, and in entertaining her friends and family; she also enjoyed her time traveling the world with her husband, Earle; and

WHEREAS, Peggy Johnson was a lifelong member of Second Presbyterian Church in Bloomington; she was also a member of the Antiquarian Club, the Bloomington Country Club, the Clio Club, and the Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumnae Association; she served on the board of the Mclean County Day Care Center; and

WHEREAS, Peggy Johnson was preceded in death by her first husband, Laurence; her second husband, Earle; her parents; her sisters, Beverly Vance, and Marcia Sandell; her stepson, Earle B. Johnson Jr.; and her son-in-law, Richard Templin; and

WHEREAS, Peggy Johnson is survived by her children and stepchildren, Ann (Mike) Sullivan, Catherine Templin, Elizabeth Rust, Laura (John) Dirks, Victoria Johnson (Salvador Codina), Julia Johnson, and Sheryl (Dean) Gmoser; her daughter-in-law, Margaret Johnson Greene; her grandchildren, Alison and Sarah Templin, Hilary (Joseph) Norton, Caroline Dirks, Peter Dirks, Amelia Dirks, Carrie (Adam) Carr, Jenny (Dan) Kling, Darby (Sean) McCollian, Susana Codina (Juanjoh Marimon), Elena Codina, David Gmoser (Beckie Roy), and Greg Gmoser; and her step-great-grandchildren, Caroline Carr, Katie Kling, Declan McCollian, Axel Codina Marimon, and Alexandra Gmoser; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Peggy Minch Rust Johnson, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Peggy Johnson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
