SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Arthur Daniel "Dan" Nafziger II of Louisville, Kentucky, who passed away on November 25,2016; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Nafziger II was born in Bloomington to Arthur and Marjorie Nafziger on March 26, 1956; he graduated from Central Catholic High School in Bloomington in 1974 and earned degrees in agriculture and finance from Illinois State University in Normal, where he was also a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity; he married Sandra Kay West in 1984; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Nafziger II had a long and successful career in agribusiness and finance before retiring; he worked for both MetLife Agriculture Insurance and Aegon USA; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Nafziger II was an active member of his church, Our Lady of Lourdes, and a member of the Illinois Agriculture Leadership Foundation; he served as Treasurer for the Woods of St. Thomas Homeowners Association; he played the voice of Freddy Farm Bureau every year at the Kentucky State Fair; he was an avid Louisville Cardinals fan and an enthusiastic tennis player and golfer; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Nafziger II was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Nafziger II is survived by his wife, Sandy; his children, Ryan, Mary Grace, and Derek; and his siblings, Martha (Robert) Hillmer, John (Barb) Nafziger, Jane (Mike) Winters, Rita (Mark Sokolik) Nafziger, Alice (Mike Diehl) Benga, Paul (Ellen) Nafziger, and LeAnna (Rick) Mutchler; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Arthur Daniel "Dan" Nafziger II, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Arthur Nafziger II as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
