SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Alfonzy Williams, who passed away on September 19, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Alfonzy Williams was born in Starkville, Mississippi to Charles and Aurelia Moore Williams on April 29, 1928; he was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Starkville; he served in the United States Air Force from 1945 to 1949; after the war, he moved to East St. Louis and joined Paul Baptist Church; and

WHEREAS, Alfonzy Williams worked for ITT Blackburn; after his retirement, he owned and operated Tony's Food Shop; he also owned several real estate properties; and

WHEREAS, Alfonzy Williams married LeJeanne (Max) McNeese on November 12, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Alfonzy Williams was a comedian and enjoyed making people laugh; he also enjoyed going to Jerry's Cafe after church and watching sports in his favorite chair; and

WHEREAS, Alfonzy Williams was preceded in death by his parents, and 17 siblings; and

WHEREAS, Alfonzy Williams is survived by his wife, LeJeanne; his sister, Susie Williams; his brother, Jefferson Williams; two sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Alfonzy Williams, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Alfonzy Williams as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
