SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert "Bob" "Sterny" V. Sternberg of Marengo, who passed away on July 15, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Robert Sternberg was born on May 6, 1943 in Belvidere; his parents were Victor and Ethel Sternberg; he married Roberta Ackman on February 17, 1968 at Zion Lutheran Church in Marengo; and

WHEREAS, Robert Sternberg attended Harmony Grade School and was a 1962 graduate of Marengo Community High School; and

WHEREAS, Robert Sternberg retired as a foreman for the McHenry County Highway Department after 32 years of service; he enjoyed farming in the area for many years and talking with his friends at his vegetable stand; and

WHEREAS, Robert Sternberg was active at Zion Lutheran Church as head usher, Elder, and a member of numerous committees; and

WHEREAS, Robert Sternberg was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Martin and David; and his sister and brother-in-law, Rebecca (Robert) Dovich; and

WHEREAS, Robert Sternberg is survived by his wife, Roberta; his daughter, Robin (Gordon) Shetley; his grandson, Brendan Shetley; his step-granddaughter, Madison Shetley; and many special friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Robert "Bob" "Sterny" V. Sternberg; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert Sternberg as an expression of our sympathy.
