SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Dorothy Best Vogel, who passed away on August 20, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Vogel was a lifelong resident of the North Chicago and Waukegan area; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Vogel was fondly known as the "WKRS Cake Lady" and was best known for her involvement with WKRS Radio, her many roses, and her outrageous Halloween decorations; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Vogel is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Vogel; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Vogel is survived by her daughter, Lorraine Beres Lanier; her grandchildren, Kimberley (Fred) Rickert, Jeremy (Lisa) Beres, and Karen (Robert) Altom; 11 great-grandchildren; her great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her "special angel", Richard Vogel Plucker; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of Dorothy Best Vogel; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dorothy Vogel as an expression of our sympathy.
