SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Alexis DeSean Taylor, Sr., who passed away on March 3, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Alexis Taylor, Sr. was born on August 15, 1984 in Cincinnati, Ohio; his parents were Albert S. Taylor and Sheila R. (Taylor) Hanson; he met Missy Trotter in October of 2003; the pair was engaged in 2013; and

WHEREAS, Alexis Taylor, Sr. attended Western Hills and Life Skills High Schools; he also completed some college courses in Ohio; and

WHEREAS, Alexis Taylor, Sr. was employed with the Southwestern Ohio Water Company; and

WHEREAS, Alexis Taylor, Sr. confessed in Christ at an early age under the teachings of Rev. Willie Brown at New Missionary Baptist Church; and

WHEREAS, Alexis Taylor, Sr. was preceded in death by his grandparents, Albert and Tomma C. Taylor, Marvin Day, Sr., and Doc and Dorothy Helm; 3 aunts, Carla Thomas, Bonnie Whitehead and Debora Henderson; an uncle, James R. Helm; and a godsister, Lia Watson; and

WHEREAS, Alexis Taylor, Sr. is survived by his fiancee, Missy Trotter; 2 children, Javontae Huff and Alexis Taylor, Jr.; his parents; his stepfather, Dennis Hanson; 5 sisters, Sheena Williams, Damica (David) Booker, Whitney Shepherd, Tanasha (Maurice) Farrier, and Olivia Hanson; a brother, Damico (Megan) Taylor; 2 grandparents, Beverly (Maurice) Helm-Renfro and Beryl Hanson; 2 aunts, Beverly Taylor and Lisa (John) Sloan; 3 uncles, Derek Taylor, Marvin (Dana) Day, Jr., and Sam Thomas; his godmother, Diana Powell; 3 godsisters, Nia Ervin, Christine Ervin and Renee Ervin; a sister and 2 brothers-in-law, Shawna Asbury, JaJuan Brooks, and Matthew Brooks; and many other family members and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Alexis DeSean Taylor, Sr.; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Alexis Taylor, Sr. as an expression of our sympathy.
