SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Cheryl Paulette Harris, who passed away
4on February 20, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Cheryl Harris was born on November 23, 1948 to
6Fannie Mary Smith and Alphonso Harris; she attended Chicago
7Vocational High School and later received her GED; she met Ira
8Burton and gave him 3 daughters, Terese, Cherri, and Terri; in
91970, she met Darrell Wells "Tiger", the love of her life, and
10they had one daughter, Daphne Wells; although never married,
11they lived together happily for 45 years as husband and wife;
12and
 
13    WHEREAS, Cheryl Harris had many jobs though out her life,
14but the most satisfying one was as a Certified Addiction
15Dependency Counselor at the Haymarket House; she worked in the
16maternal addiction unit and was passionate about helping women
17come into recovery and change their lives; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Cheryl Harris was preceded in death by her
19parents; her sister, Deborah Lynn Harris; and her favorite
20niece, Candice Johnson; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Cheryl Harris is survived by her soul mate,

1Darrell "Tiger"; her daughters, Terese, Cherri, Terri (Eric),
2and Daphne (Roy); her step-daughter, Denna; her brother, Frank
3(Bonita) and sisters, Cynthia (Clay), Denise (Eddie), Nancy,
4Joella, and Rhonda Burton (honorary sister); her
5grandchildren, Mia (Moses), Eboni, Lamar, Alicia, Danielle,
6and Diamond; her 5 great-grandchildren; and many nieces,
7nephews, cousins, and a host of friends and extended family;
8therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Cheryl Paulette Harris, and extend our sincere condolences to
12her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Cheryl Harris as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
