SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Jean Marie Adams of McHenry, who passed
4away on July 28, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jean Adams was born in Oswestry, Wales, United
6Kingdom to Jonathan and Harriet Derrick on August 29, 1926;
7during World War II, she met Robert Adams while he was
8stationed near her village; they emigrated to the United States
9after the war ended and were married on August 23, 1947; she
10and her husband lived in Elgin and New Orleans, Louisiana
11before settling in McHenry; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Jean Adams worked for the Monsanto Corporation in
13the United Kingdom during, and shortly after, World War II;
14once in the United States, she began her married life as a
15homemaker; she later worked for Illinois Bell, and then spent
1612 years as a librarian at McHenry West High School, retiring
17in 1991; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Jean Adams enjoyed driving with the top down on
19her 1967 Mustang, "Old Bess"; she loved to hunt for bargains
20while shopping, and always got a real thrill when she found
21one; she enjoyed singing, reading, doing crossword puzzles,
22watching British television shows, and spending time with her

1family; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Jean Adams preceded in death by her husband,
3Robert; her parents; her siblings; and her son-in-law, Ted
4Frett; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jean Adams is survived by her three children,
6Cynthia (David) Karls, Jill (Mark) Voboril, and Brian (Amanda)
7Adams; her grandchildren, Meredith (Jim) Tuttle, Jonathan
8Frett, Alyson, Melissa, and A.J. Voboril, and Maximilian and
9Cindy Rose Adams; her great-grandchildren, Courtney (Brett)
10MacDonald and James (Jaci) Tuttle; and her
11great-great-grandchildren, Kylie, Mason, and Emma; therefore,
12be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Jean Marie Adams, and extend our sincere condolences to her
16family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Jean Adams as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
