SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Patricia Carolyn Miller, who passed away
4on July 2, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Patricia Miller was born on October 2, 1936 in
6North Chicago; she attended Holy Family Grade School in North
7Chicago and Waukegan High School; she married Bennett Miller on
8October 9, 1954 at Holy Family Church; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Patricia Miller served as a school secretary in
10North Chicago School District #64 for 23 years; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Patricia Miller and her husband were members of
12the Lake County Social and Golf Club, called the "Lucky Group",
13for 30 years; her quick wit, love of laughter, and enjoyment
14for the game of golf epitomized the essence of the club; she
15was crowned the first "Mrs. Lucky", an annual award from the
16club; she was also an active member of the Waushara Country
17Club of Wautoma, generously volunteering her time to various
18club activities; she was the first woman to serve as a board
19member of the club; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Patricia Miller enjoyed fine writing, singing,
21dancing, theatre, and traveling with her husband; they spent

1many summers with their family on Pearl Lake and winters
2golfing in Florida; she also enjoyed music and led many
3Waukegan Knights of Columbus sing-alongs in the 1970s; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Patricia Miller was preceded in death by her
5parents, James and Frances Marks, and her siblings, Loretta
6Edwards, James Marks, Margaret Kimpler, and Robert Marks; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Patricia Miller is survived by her husband,
8Bennett; her children, Christian (Mai-Lis), Lisa (Jeff)
9Kasper, Mark (Julie), and Susan (Bill) Harkin; 16
10grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her sister, Jane
11Hissem; her brother-in-law, Joe Miller; and many nieces,
12nephews, other relatives, and friends; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
15family and friends, mourn the passing of Patricia Carolyn
16Miller; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Patricia Miller as an expression of
19our sympathy.
