SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Ruth Wagner of Marengo, who passed away on July 17, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Ruth Wagner was born on October 20, 1917 in Riley Township; her parents were William and Iva French; and

WHEREAS, After growing up on many farms in northern Illinois and living in several states, Ruth Wagner finally returned to her beloved Marengo in 1948, where she resided ever since; she worked at McGill's and Arnold Engineering before becoming an Avon lady, for which she is best known; and

WHEREAS, Ruth Wagner was an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and a faithful member of the Marengo United Methodist Church; and

WHEREAS, Ruth Wagner was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald Locke, and her second husband, LaVerne Wagner; and

WHEREAS, Ruth Wagner is survived by her children, John (Antje) Locke and Judith (Nolan) Bradford; her grandchildren, Jane Rensinger, Nancy Ridenour, David Locke, and Scott Miller; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of Ruth Wagner; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ruth Wagner as an expression of our sympathy.
