SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Johnnie Horton Jackson, who passed away
4on February 22, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Johnnie Jackson was born in Bolivar, Tennessee on
6October 31, 1922 to Elizabeth Bills and Sydney Horton; she
7moved to Chicago with her daughter and continued her education,
8becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse; she married Harry T.
9Jackson on December 3, 1966; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Johnnie Jackson worked for St. Francis Hospital in
11Evanston for 35 years in the nursery and neonatal units; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Johnnie Jackson was a member of Christ Universal
13Temple for over 50 years; she enjoyed traveling across the
14United States and to many foreign countries; she also enjoyed
15shopping, sitting out on the patio during the summer, talking
16with her neighbors, and learning to play the trumpet; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Johnnie Jackson was preceded in death by her
18husband, Harry; her daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Benjamin
19Lubin; her grandson, Dwain Lubin; and her sister and
20brother-in-law, Garland and James Mann, Sr.; and

1    WHEREAS, Johnnie Jackson is survived by her granddaughter,
2Dr. Niva Lubin-Johnson (Joseph Johnson); her nephew, James
3Mann, Jr.; her niece, Sybil (Peter) Mitchell; her special
4nieces, Patricia (Donnie) Jackson-McDaniel, Deborah (Robert)
5Simmons, June DuPree, and Stephanie McCullum; her cousins, John
6Roberts, Mortigue Walker, and Andrew Walker; and her
7great-nieces and great-nephews; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Johnnie Horton Jackson, and extend our sincere condolences to
11her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Johnnie Jackson as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
