SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Stanley M. Koch of Marengo, who passed away on June 21, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Stanley Koch was born on January 4, 1924 in Hinckley; his parents were William F. and Sarah Koch; he married Lucille E. Ackman on February 17, 1945 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Huntley; and

WHEREAS, Stanley Koch graduated from Dundee High School in 1942 and was drafted into the United States Marine Corps on February 9, 1943; he studied at the Navy Pier in Chicago and became an aviation mechanic with the rank of Staff Sergeant; he spent the remainder of his service stationed at Miramar Marine Base in California, where he trained recruits to work on the Corsair aircraft; and

WHEREAS, After the war, Stanley Koch worked at Dean Foods in Huntley, where he was on the team that developed the company's pasteurization and homogenization process; he was later employed at Union Special, where he retired after 32 years as a machinist; and

WHEREAS, Stanley Koch was an active and founding member of Huntley American Legion Post 673; he was the last veteran from World War II in the American Legion Post in the Huntley community; and

WHEREAS, Stanley Koch and his wife were members of the Wisconsin Polka Club of Milwaukee and danced their way across the Midwest; they also enjoyed watching their grandchildren's sports and activities; and

WHEREAS, Stanley Koch was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Lucille; his sisters, Velma Schuring and Lois McMillan; and his brothers, Laverne and Willard; and

WHEREAS, Stanley Koch is survived by his children, Connie (Eric) Mychko, Linda (James) Zielinski, Gloria (James) McLauchlan, and William (Christine); his grandchildren, Amy (James) Novak, James (Mandy) Rosenthal, Jenna Mychko, Bryan (Megan) Borchart, Brett (Amy) Borchart, Michael (Emily) McLauchlan, Matthew (Jaime) Koch, Tiffany (Casey) Loflin, and William M. Koch; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and many loving nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Stanley M. Koch; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Stanley Koch as an expression of our sympathy.
