SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Susan Lynn Mayer of Richmond, who passed
4away on June 21, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Susan Mayer was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
6to George and Isabelle (Valentino) Gaydos on July 13, 1953; she
7graduated from St. Anselm's Catholic High School in 1971; she
8graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Carlow
9College in 1975, and served four years as an Ensign, Lieutenant
10Junior Grade, and finally Lieutenant in the United States Navy
11Nurse Corps; she married Dr. C. Eric Mayer, a Lieutenant in the
12U.S. Navy Dental Corps; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Susan Mayer was hired as the first school nurse
14for Richmond-Burton Community High School and Richmond Grade
15School in August of 1979; she served the district for 30 years -
16 the last 20 solely at Richmond Grade School, where she
17touched the lives of students and staff; she was the
18cheerleading coach at Richmond-Burton in her early years; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Susan Mayer was a member of St. Joseph Catholic
20Church in Richmond; she served as a CCD teacher and Eucharistic
21Minister, and was a member of the Marriage Enrichment
22committee; she enjoyed playing golf, gardening, music, Chicago

1sports teams, and was always up for a laugh; she found her true
2joy sharing her time with her husband, children, friends, and
3family; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Susan Mayer is survived by her loving husband,
5Eric; her children, Carol (Nate) Voronyak and Todd (Jamie)
6Mayer; her granddaughter, Hope Voronyak; her sister, Carol
7(Richard) Swink; her brothers, George (Valerie) Gaydos and
8Gregory Gaydos; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Susan Lynn Mayer, and extend our sincere condolences to her
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Susan Mayer as an expression of our
16deepest sympathy.
