SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Rev. Joseph G. Arrington Jr. of Rock Island, who passed away on June 18, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Rev. Arrington was born in Lake Providence, Louisiana to Joseph Sr. and Fannie (Casson) Arrington on March 12, 1927; he served in the United States Army Air Force and the United States Air Force during World War II and the Korean War; he married Wilma F. Kimmins on April 16, 1966; and

WHEREAS, Rev. Arrington was the pastor of Derrick's Temple Church of God in Christ for 16 years; he also was a truck driver for Watt's Disposal in Rock Island for over 30 years; and

WHEREAS, Rev. Arrington was a member of New Birth of Victory Temple Church of God in Christ; he enjoyed sports, fishing, hunting, and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Rev. Arrington was preceded in death by his parents and his son, James Arrington; and

WHEREAS, Rev. Arrington is survived by his wife, Wilma; his children, Joyce (Garry) Bogguess, Krine (Willie) Arrington Lagrone, Vernice (Andre) Johnson, Simone (Moses) Woods, Andre Kimmins, David Wires, Eric (Tina) Wires, Joseph (Sarah) Arrington III, Loren (Briana) Arrington, and Matthew Arrington; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Rev. Joseph G. Arrington Jr., and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Rev. Arrington as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
