SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Rev. Joseph G. Arrington Jr. of Rock
4Island, who passed away on June 18, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Rev. Arrington was born in Lake Providence,
6Louisiana to Joseph Sr. and Fannie (Casson) Arrington on March
712, 1927; he served in the United States Army Air Force and the
8United States Air Force during World War II and the Korean War;
9he married Wilma F. Kimmins on April 16, 1966; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Rev. Arrington was the pastor of Derrick's Temple
11Church of God in Christ for 16 years; he also was a truck
12driver for Watt's Disposal in Rock Island for over 30 years;
13and
 
14    WHEREAS, Rev. Arrington was a member of New Birth of
15Victory Temple Church of God in Christ; he enjoyed sports,
16fishing, hunting, and spending time with family, especially his
17grandchildren; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Rev. Arrington was preceded in death by his
19parents and his son, James Arrington; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Rev. Arrington is survived by his wife, Wilma; his

1children, Joyce (Garry) Bogguess, Krine (Willie) Arrington
2Lagrone, Vernice (Andre) Johnson, Simone (Moses) Woods, Andre
3Kimmins, David Wires, Eric (Tina) Wires, Joseph (Sarah)
4Arrington III, Loren (Briana) Arrington, and Matthew
5Arrington; and a host of grandchildren and
6great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Rev. Joseph G. Arrington Jr., and extend our sincere
10condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
11him; and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Rev. Arrington as an expression of
14our deepest sympathy.
