SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Tubencio "Walt" Carpio of Moline, who passed away on June 18, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Tubencio Carpio was born in East Moline to Pedro and Mary (Perez) Carpio on January 24, 1927; he served in the United States Army during World War II and the Korean War; he married Alma Guyer in Moline on February 17, 1968; and

WHEREAS, Tubencio Carpio was a skilled small-appliance repairman; and

WHEREAS, Tubencio Carpio was a charter member of the World War II Memorial Monument in Washington, D.C. and the World War II National Museum in New Orleans, Louisiana; he enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading, and music; and

WHEREAS, Tubencio Carpio was preceded in death by his wife, Alma; his parents; and his brothers, Charles, Jesse, Frank, Tony, and Robert; and

WHEREAS, Tubencio Carpio is survived by his siblings, Joseph Carpio, Margaret Mayer, Lupe Reese, Terry (Adolph) DeFauw, and Joanne (Roger) Hurt; many nieces and nephews; his stepdaughters, Janice and Jean; and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Tubencio "Walt" Carpio, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Tubencio Carpio as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
