SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of George C. Williams of Rock Island, who passed away on March 17, 2016; and

WHEREAS, George Williams was born on July 12, 1924 in Clinton, Iowa; his parents were George Williams and Clara Sorensen Williams; he married Louise Dyer on May 3, 1947 in Clinton; and

WHEREAS, George Williams was a veteran of the United States Navy; and

WHEREAS, George Williams worked as the warehouse manager at Lerch & Thonn, Inc. in Rock Island for many years; and

WHEREAS, George Williams was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Rock Island, Allouez Council #658 of the Knights of Columbus in Rock Island, and Moline American Legion Post #246; and

WHEREAS, George Williams enjoyed golfing, playing cards, and spending time with his family; he was also an avid Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs fan; and

WHEREAS, George Williams was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Louise; his granddaughter, Renae Ekstrom; and his sister, Frances Milder; and

WHEREAS, George Williams is survived by his children, Regina (Ernest) Donaway, Cheryl Bobb (Troy Wilkinson), and Claire (Phillip) Ekstrom; his grandchildren, Brian (Jamie) Donaway, Matthew Donaway, Eric Donaway, Heather (Don) Griener, Tina (Bob) Hantz, Shari (Tim) Thompson, Wendi (Tim) DeFauw, Elaina (Chris) Wallin, Richard Ekstrom, Robert (Nicole) Ekstrom, Rodney (Jennifer) Ekstrom, and Ryan (Jen) Ekstrom; his 30 great-grandchildren; his three great-great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Jacqueline Bostock and Marietta (Tom) Daehler; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of George C. Williams; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of George Williams as an expression of our sympathy.
