SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Eunice "Granny" Andreas of McHenry, who passed away on January 12, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Eunice Andreas was born in Algonquin to Albert and Jennie Ebel on November 14, 1913; she attended a one-room schoolhouse and married Weldon Andreas in 1932; and

WHEREAS, Eunice Andreas was employed in a chemical plant supporting the war effort in 1942 and continued working for the next 50 years; and

WHEREAS, Eunice Andreas enjoyed taking family trips, including frequent trips to their Wisconsin cabin for fishing and enjoying nature by the lake; she also enjoyed 50 years of Andreas 4th of July family reunions; they moved to Sunnyside (now Johnsburg) in 1978; and

WHEREAS, Eunice Andreas took her "trip of a lifetime" to the banks of the Elbe River in Germany to see the small town the Ebels left in 1872, and then to Malmo, Sweden to visit her mother's ancestral home; throughout her life, she carried her immigrant mother's determination, along with many family traditions like crocheting and renowned home-cooking; and

WHEREAS, Eunice Andreas was preceded in death by her siblings, Doris, Lester, Laverne, Glenard, Marian, Albert, and Adelbert, and her husband, Weldon; and

WHEREAS, Eunice Andreas is survived by her 4 children, Duane (Doris Bauer) Andreas, Audrey (John) Smith, Darlene (Thomas) Huemann, and Margo Andreas; her 11 grandchildren, Lisa (Thomas) Cote, Greg (Stephanie) Smith, Janine (Kevin) Burns, Kim (Gordon) Husby, Dean (Jane) Andreas, Dirk Andreas, Diane (Paul) Erickson, Joe (Kathy) Huemann, Randy (Patty) Smith, Dana Andreas, and Tom (Sandy) Huemann; her 27 great-grandchildren; and her 12 great-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Eunice "Granny" Andreas, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Eunice Andreas as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
