SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Harold "Hal" Baker of Woodstock, who
4passed away on November 28, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Harold Baker was born on October 2, 1941 in
6Woodstock; his parents were George and Alice Baker; he married
7Crystal Scott on February 23, 1962; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Harold Baker went to school in Woodstock and
9continued his education at Trinidad College in Colorado and at
10Northern Illinois University; after 4 years of service in the
11United States Air Force, he returned to Woodstock and worked in
12sales for many years, finally opening his own business on Main
13Street called Sound Advice and later America's Best
14Audio-Video; he then spent many years as the elected Assessor
15for Dorr Township until his retirement; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Harold Baker had a lifelong interest in hunting
17and fishing and especially enjoyed spending summers in
18Wisconsin and winters in Texas; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Harold Baker was a member of the Woodstock Jaycees
20and coached their award winning shooting team; he volunteered
21as a Little League coach, a hunter safety instructor, and an

1information officer with the McHenry County Civil Defense; he
2was also a member of the Woodstock Moose, the American Legion,
3the Harvard Sportsmen's Club, and was a life member of the NRA;
4and
 
5    WHEREAS, Harold Baker is survived by his wife of 53 years,
6Crystal Baker; his children, James, Scott, and Melinda (Mark)
7McDonough; and his grandchildren, Jessica Baker, Shaun
8(Brigitte) Baker, Samantha Baker, and Renee and Ross Adams;
9therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
12family and friends, mourn the passing of Harold "Hal" Baker;
13and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Harold Baker as an expression of our
16sympathy.
