SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Edward L. "Doc" Van Hoozen of Hebron, who passed away on February 14, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Edward Van Hoozen was born on June 12, 1930 in Woodstock; his parents were Lee and Lucy (nee Harrison) Van Hoozen; he married Elaine J. Cates on September 17, 1955 in Alden; and

WHEREAS, Edward Van Hoozen served in the United States Army during the Korean War, receiving the Bronze Star; and

WHEREAS, Edward Van Hoozen was a graduate of Alden High School in 1948; he then attended Northern Illinois University before receiving his dental degree from Northwestern Dental School in 1958; and

WHEREAS, Edward Van Hoozen practiced in Hebron for many years until his retirement in 2000; and

WHEREAS, Edward Van Hoozen enjoyed motorcycle riding, snowmobiles, golfing, and fishing; and

WHEREAS, Edward Van Hoozen was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine; and

WHEREAS, Edward Van Hoozen is survived by his sons, Brian (Kathlene) Van Hoozen and Brent (Chi) Van Hoozen; his grandsons, Christopher, Calvin, and Brian Van Hoozen, Jr.; his sister, Helen Rhodes; and his brother, Dexter (Joan) Van Hoozen; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Edward L. "Doc" Van Hoozen; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Edward Van Hoozen as an expression of our sympathy.
