SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Arthur "Butch" Wakefield III; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Wakefield III was born in Waukegan to Arthur and Mary (nee Davis) Wakefield on March 2, 1945; he graduated from North Chicago High School in 1963; he enlisted in the United States Army in 1965 and was honorably discharged in 1966 due to an injury in the line of duty; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Wakefield III was employed at the Veterans Affairs Administration in North Chicago, where he worked as a dental technician for over 30 years, receiving numerous accolades; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Wakefield III enjoyed getting up early every day and either visiting family or making his rounds to his favorite breakfast hangouts, Aunt Millie's or the Paragon in Waukegan; he was known for stopping by and visiting family members bright and early on the weekends, bringing great conversation and maybe some donuts and drinking a pot of coffee while he was there; in 2006, he and his wife moved to Sevierville, Tennessee to enjoy a peaceful retirement at the base of the beautiful Smokey Mountains; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Wakefield III was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sandra Rush; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Wakefield III is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Sarah (Jackie) Pettry Wakefield; his daughter, Brenda (Norma) Pettry; his son, Kyle (Terry) Wakefield; his sister, Wanda (Chris) Childs; his sister, Joyce Wakefield; and numerous other family members whom he loved; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Arthur "Butch" Wakefield III, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Arthur Wakefield III as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
