SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Lynn Foster, formerly of Danville, who passed away on January 2, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Lynn Foster was born in 1949 on a United States Air Force base in Japan; she attended Purdue University and settled in Danville; and

WHEREAS, Lynn Foster was the first woman elected as Vermilion County Clerk in 1990; she was reelected for 6 consecutive terms, leaving office in 2014 after 24 years of service; and

WHEREAS, Lynn Foster was a staple of the Democratic Party in the area; she served as a central committee person for the State Democratic party and as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention; she was the first woman elected as a voting member of the Danville Township Trustees; and

WHEREAS, Lynn Foster was an Executive Board Member and past President of the Breakfast Kiwanis, a volunteer at CRIS Senior Services and the Westville Senior Center, and a Board Member for the Danville Area Food Pantry and Catholic Charities; in 2012, she was one of 6 area women the Girl Scouts honored as a Central Illinois Woman of Distinction; and

WHEREAS, Lynn Foster was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, David; and

WHEREAS, Lynn Foster is survived by her daughter, Nicole; her grandson, David; and her stepson, Lee Gregg Foster; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Lynn Foster, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Lynn Foster as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
