SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Peter J. Manzo of East Moline, who passed away on December 7, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Peter Manzo was born in New York City in 1921; he served in the United States Navy during World War II, receiving numerous decorations, including, the World War II Victory Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with one Bronze Star, and the Navy USCG Unit Commendation Ribbon; he married Doris in New York, and he benefitted from the GI Bill, receiving his bachelor's degree in business from Union College in Schenectady, New York; and

WHEREAS, Peter Manzo retired from the Army Weapons Command at Rock Island Arsenal as Comptroller and Director of Programs in 1979; and

WHEREAS, Peter Manzo loved the game of baseball, often reminiscing about Joe DiMaggio; he loved to work and was a devoted family man; and

WHEREAS, Peter Manzo is survived by his wife, Doris; his children, Philip Manzo, Leslie Conroy, Cheryl (John) Scipione, and Peter (Virginia) Manzo; his 10 grandchildren; his 13 great-grandchildren; his great-great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Peter J. Manzo, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Peter Manzo as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
