SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of John F. Miller of Hudson, who passed away on December 19, 2015; and

WHEREAS, John Miller was born on April 12, 1933 in Normal; his parents were Carl F. and Carrie Lanter Miller; he married Judy A. Henderson on January 7, 1953 in Bloomington; and

WHEREAS, John Miller was proud to have served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War; he was the recipient of the Korean Service Ribbon, the United States Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation for his service; and

WHEREAS, Following his time in the Army, John Miller became a very gifted carpenter, working in this capacity until his retirement in 2000; he was also a member of the Carpenters Union in Bloomington; and

WHEREAS, John Miller enjoyed woodworking, raising and riding trail horses with his wife, camping, feeding birds in the winter, and taking family vacations; and

WHEREAS, John Miller was preceded in death by his sister, Irene Hyatt; and

WHEREAS, John Miller is survived by his wife, Judy; his children, Tom Miller, Tracy (Von) Saufley, and Tricia (Ritchie) Thompson; and his grandchildren, Kirstin and Laela Thompson, Cassie, Josie, Ethan, Austin, and Logan Saufley, and Griffin, Greydin, and Gavin Miller; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of John F. Miller; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of John Miller as an expression of our sympathy.
