SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Lorraine B. Phillips of Omaha, Nebraska, who passed away on December 19, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Lorraine Phillips was born on October 27, 1926 in Columbus, Nebraska; her parents were Walter and Sophie Burzynski; and

WHEREAS, Lorraine Phillips raised her family in Bloomington and served on many boards, including the Bloomington-Normal Transit Board, at which she implemented the bus service for the disabled and handicapped; in 1986, she moved to Omaha, Nebraska to live closer to her family; and

WHEREAS, Lorraine Phillips was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David J. Phillips; her brother, Father John Kent; and her sisters, Gloria Daughtery, Rita Ballantine, and Rosalie Begley; and

WHEREAS, Lorraine Phillips is survived by her children, Mary (Steve) Gevercer and John (Terri Pruitt) Phillips; her grandsons, Ben, Jonah, and Matthew Gevercer, Megan (Joel Wunderlich) Phillips, and Cody Phillips; her sister, Jane (Bernard) Langan; and her many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of Lorraine B. Phillips; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Lorraine Phillips as an expression of our sympathy.
