SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert W. Morris of Moline, who passed away on December 13, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Robert Morris was born on February 10, 1922 in Moline; his parents were William S. and Ebba L. Swanson Morris; he married Betty G. Griffin on January 10, 1948 in Moline; and

WHEREAS, Robert Morris proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean War; and

WHEREAS, Robert Morris worked for IBM as a field engineer for many years until his retirement in 1978; following his retirement, he worked several years as a union electrician; and

WHEREAS, Robert Morris was a member of American Legion Post 246, the Masonic Lodge, and the First Lutheran Church in Moline; and

WHEREAS, Robert Morris enjoyed sailing, boating, traveling, and camping with his family and watching his grandchildren grow; and

WHEREAS, Robert Morris was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty; his brother, Roland Morris; his sisters, Joyce Winters Brown and Delores Meyers; his grandson, Richard Fisher; and his nephews, Steve Morris and Paul Barnard; and

WHEREAS, Robert Morris is survived by his children, Sheryl Jefferson, Teresa Connolly, Thomas Morris, and William (Sandie) Morris; his brother, Duane L. Morris; his grandchildren, Daniel, Kristina, and Samantha Connolly and Robert and Margaret Morris; and his many nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Robert W. Morris; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert Morris as an expression of our sympathy.
