SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Robert W. Morris of Moline, who passed
4away on December 13, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Robert Morris was born on February 10, 1922 in
6Moline; his parents were William S. and Ebba L. Swanson Morris;
7he married Betty G. Griffin on January 10, 1948 in Moline; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Robert Morris proudly served in the United States
9Navy during World War II and the Korean War; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Robert Morris worked for IBM as a field engineer
11for many years until his retirement in 1978; following his
12retirement, he worked several years as a union electrician; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Robert Morris was a member of American Legion Post
14246, the Masonic Lodge, and the First Lutheran Church in
15Moline; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Robert Morris enjoyed sailing, boating,
17traveling, and camping with his family and watching his
18grandchildren grow; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Robert Morris was preceded in death by his

1parents; his wife, Betty; his brother, Roland Morris; his
2sisters, Joyce Winters Brown and Delores Meyers; his grandson,
3Richard Fisher; and his nephews, Steve Morris and Paul Barnard;
4and
 
5    WHEREAS, Robert Morris is survived by his children, Sheryl
6Jefferson, Teresa Connolly, Thomas Morris, and William
7(Sandie) Morris; his brother, Duane L. Morris; his
8grandchildren, Daniel, Kristina, and Samantha Connolly and
9Robert and Margaret Morris; and his many nieces, nephews, and
10great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
13family and friends, mourn the passing of Robert W. Morris; and
14be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Robert Morris as an expression of
17our sympathy.
