SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Corean Miggins, who passed away on December 24, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Corean Miggins was born on July 28, 1947 in Sandhill, Mississippi; her parents were John and Thelma Miggins; and

WHEREAS, Corean Miggins was preceded in death by her mother and her sister, Diane; and

WHEREAS, Corean Miggins moved to Chicago with her family in 1948; she was baptized at the age of 12 at Lilydale Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Wyatt; she received her early education at Gillespie Elementary School and went on to graduate from John Marshall Harlan High School at the age of 16; and

WHEREAS, After working at Spiegel, Corean Miggins went to work at Michael Reese Hospital as an accounts payable clerk; she later became a Certified Nurse's Aide and worked until 2008; and

WHEREAS, Corean Miggins is survived by her daughter, Kamisha; her father, John Miggins; her sisters, Velma Ward and Audrey Shaw; her brothers, Willie Miggins and Otis Miggins; the special set of kids she helped raise, Keith, Lin, Nelson, Jr., and Tony; and her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, including her best friend of 25 years, Billie, and Pastor Davis; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of Corean Miggins; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Corean Miggins as an expression of our sympathy.
