SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Nancy McKillen of Waukegan, who passed
4away on November 27, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Nancy McKillen was born in Galesburg on September
617, 1935 to George and Dorothy (nee Woolsey) Bruce; she
7graduated from Hampshire High School and attended Northern
8Illinois University, eventually completing her degree in
9education at Carthage College 30 years later after raising her
10family; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Nancy McKillen taught at Mother of God grade
12school in Waukegan and its successor, Lake Shore Catholic
13Academy, for over 35 years; she loved children of all ages and
14was proud to have taught many different grades during her
15career, as well as music and physical education; during the
161970s and 80s, she also owned and managed Barro's Pizza on
17Grand Avenue in Waukegan; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Nancy McKillen enjoyed spending time with her
19family and friends, babysitting her grandkids, crossword
20puzzles, and watching the Chicago Bears, Cubs, and Bulls; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Nancy McKillen was preceded in death by her

1parents; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Nancy McKillen is survived by her brothers, Bob
3(Virginia) Bruce and James (Judy) Bruce; her 3 children,
4Patrick (Diane) McKillen, Beth McKillen (Nathan Godfried), and
5Mike McKillen; her 5 grandchildren; and her 3
6great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Nancy McKillen, and extend our sincere condolences to her
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Nancy McKillen as an expression of
14our deepest sympathy.
