SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Paul Thennes of Charleston, who passed away on November 7, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Paul Thennes was born in McHenry on September 21, 1949 to Edward J. and Agnes M. (nee Guerin) Thennes; he earned an associate's degree from McHenry College and attended Eastern Illinois University for 2 years; he proudly served his country during the Vietnam War with the 36th Engineer Battalion Company D, United States Army; he married Marjorie E. Thoele on June 17, 1978 in Teutopolis; and

WHEREAS, Paul Thennes was Seven Hickory Township Road Commissioner for many years before working at Eastern Illinois University as a groundskeeper; and

WHEREAS, Paul Thennes was a member of the American Legion and a Life Member of the Charleston VFW Paul McVey Post 1592; he loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting; and

WHEREAS, Paul Thennes was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Grace Thennes; and his 2 brothers, Mark and Gere Thennes; and

WHEREAS, Paul Thennes is survived by his wife, Margie; his 2 brothers and their wives, Tom Thennes and Karen and Richard Thennes and Mary; his 2 sisters and their husbands, Martha Peters and Jim and Ann Thennes and Don Hodgkins; and 31 nieces and nephews and their families; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Paul Thennes, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Paul Thennes as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
