SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Jerrold B. "Jerry" Smith of Fox Lake, who passed away on October 15, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Jerry Smith was born in Oak Park on December 28, 1953; and

WHEREAS, Jerry Smith was a "picker" and enjoyed selling his wares on Ebay and at flea markets; and

WHEREAS, Jerry Smith was affectionately called Smitty, Smilty, Dedo, and Geronimo; he was a great conversationalist and enjoyed gathering each morning with friends at Dunkin Donuts; he loved "jamming" with "the band", playing his guitar both at home and around town; he was a member of St. Bede Catholic Church; and

WHEREAS, Jerry Smith was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Elliot, and his father, Homer Smith; and

WHEREAS, Jerry Smith is survived by his wife, Gail (nee Thielsen); his children, Heather Ward (stepdaughter), Wesley Smith, Angela Smith, and Doniell Smith; his grandchildren, Abby, Alex, and Isabella; his stepfather, Robert Elliot; his brothers, Bill (Pat) Smith and Jim (Donna) Smith; and his sisters, Lynn (Jerry) Bivens, Terry (Rick) Daniels, and Bonnie Woltman; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Jerrold B. "Jerry" Smith, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jerry Smith as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
