SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Thomas Gilbert Sweeney of McHenry, who passed away on November 3, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Sweeney was born in Chicago on November 8, 1936 to Thomas G., Sr. and Mayrose (nee Kendall) Sweeney; he received his Bachelor of Science in Economics and his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Illinois Benedictine University; he married Joyce M. Von Huben in Chicago on December 23, 1956; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Sweeney was a police officer for the Chicago Police Department for several years; he finished his career as a Vice-President at MMI Companies; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Sweeney enjoyed boating on Powers Lake in Wisconsin and was an avid golfer; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Sweeney was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Sweeney is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joyce; his 3 children, Theresa Sweeney, Thomas III (Debra) Sweeney, and Patrick (Tamra) Sweeney; his 2 grandchildren, Bret Weaver and Lilya Sweeney; his brother, Gregory (Donna) Sweeney; and his sister, Jacqueline (Albert) Cada; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Thomas Gilbert Sweeney, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Thomas Sweeney as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
