SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert Douglas "Rob" Aper of Normal, who passed away on January 24, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Robert Aper was born on September 7, 1970 in Lincoln; his parents were Floyd and Gail Aper; and

WHEREAS, Robert Aper attended Illinois State University before enlisting in the United States Army; he subsequently served in Korea and in Operation Desert Storm; and

WHEREAS, After his discharge from the Army, Robert Aper served as a Corrections Officer for the McLean County Sheriff's Office; he also worked as a Firefighter in Normal for 17 years; and

WHEREAS, Robert Aper served on the Board of the Bloomington Cardinals Youth Football League and was a member of the League's medical staff, where he helped create mandatory concussion testing for all football players; he helped in the library at Parkside Elementary School and served as a pin man for wrestling, handing out pins to the wrestlers for their achievements; he also coached the Bloomington-Normal Baseball Association for many years; and

WHEREAS, Robert Aper is survived by 2 sons, Wil and RJ; his parents; a brother, Lt. Col. Rick (Lori) Aper; his loving partner, Julie Hopper; 5 nieces and nephews, Ryan Aper, David Hanck, Kristin Aper, Kaylee Aper, and Michael Aper; and his partner's children, Jordan (Patrick Drumm) Burns, Kailey Burns, and Jake Correa; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Robert Douglas "Rob" Aper; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert Aper as an expression of our sympathy.
