SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of John O'Neill, who passed away on July 29, 2015, and Margaret T. O'Neill, who passed away on July 30, 2015; and

WHEREAS, John O'Neill and Margaret O'Neill were born only weeks apart in 1934, Margaret on November 2 and John on December 26; Margaret and John were students at St. Luke School in River Forest and were later married at St. Luke Catholic Church; in their long married life together, the beloved couple were very active and well known in the St. Luke parish community; John served as a deacon for many years; the O'Neills were also involved and supportive of both Trinity High School in River Forest, Fenwick High School in Oak Park, and other Catholic charities; and

WHEREAS, In the 1970s, John O'Neill purchased the F.C. Pilgrim & Company real estate company from John Pilgrim; he subsequently merged his established insurance agency into Pilgrim; in later years, several members of his large family took on key roles at Pilgrim; in June of 2011, F.C. Pilgrim was acquired by Chicago-based Baird & Warner; he was a staple of the local real estate community; and

WHEREAS, Margaret O'Neill was the "grand dame" of the O'Neill clan and, at St. Luke Catholic Church, she helped with the Caring and Sharing program, an effort which provides food and other assistance to people in need; and

WHEREAS, John O'Neill was preceded in death by his siblings, Emmett (Margaret Mary) and Bob (Pat) O'Neill and Maureen (Harry) Crawford; Margaret O'Neill was preceded in death by her siblings, John, Tom (Lynn), Tony (the late Claudette), and Jim (Mary) Barrett; and

WHEREAS, John and Margaret O'Neill are survived by their children, Patty (Frank) Baker, John (Pat), Peggy (Jack) Gleason, Michael (Margie), Mary (Joe) Bresnahan, Carol, Molly (Van) Conroy, and Danny (Cathy) O'Neill; their grandchildren, John Francis (Julie) and Mark (fiancee, Jenna Cluver) Baker, Kelly (Jon) Thielbar, Kevin and Erin O'Neill, Colleen (Joel) Thielen, and Patrick Gleason, Mary Loretta, Bridget, Kathleen, and Molly O'Neill, Michael, Mariclaire, and Matthew Bresnahan, Michael, Margaret Mary, Madeline, and Colleen Stephany, Jack and Andy Conroy, and Charlie and Daniel O'Neill; and their great-granddaughter, Maura Baker; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with their families and friends, mourn the passing of John O'Neill and Margaret T. O'Neill; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of John and Margaret O'Neill as an expression of our sympathy.
