SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Dennis L. Marion of Moline, who passed away on September 7, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Dennis Marion was born on August 19, 1947 in Hedrick, Iowa; his parents were Harold and Wilma (nee Ackley) Marion; he married Laura Morford on September 6, 1967 in Moline; and

WHEREAS, Dennis Marion served his country as a member of the United States Army for 3 years; and

WHEREAS, Dennis Marion retired as a Senior Internal Consultant for John Deere Harvester Works in East Moline in 2001 after many years of service; during his years with the company, he worked as a production welder and union official; after retiring, he owned and operated Marion & Associates, a labor management consulting firm, and Marion Motor Sports; and

WHEREAS, Dennis Marion was a member of United Automobile Workers Local 865; he was a past president and board member of the ILLOWA chapter of the Association for Quality and Participation and CEO of the Quad City Labor Management Council; and

WHEREAS, Dennis Marion enjoyed racing stock cars and go-carts and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Dennis Marion was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Denise McCubbin; and

WHEREAS, Dennis Marion is survived by his wife, Laura; his children and their spouses, Shannon and Guy Morse, Nicole and Mike Melody, and Dennis Marion; his grandchildren, Dalton and Elizabeth Morse, Mackenzie and Hunter Melody, and Dennis Zachary and Riley Marion; and his sister and brother-in-law, Diana and Wiley Graham; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Dennis L. Marion; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dennis Marion as an expression of our sympathy.
