SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Marilyn Jackson of Chicago, who passed
4away on September 9, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Marilyn Jackson was born in Chicago on October 6,
61935 to Warezeller and Cleopus Ridgner; she attended Doolittle
7Elementary and Wendell Phillips High School and was a member of
8Friendly Temple Church of God in Christ; she married Thomas
9Jackson, Jr. in 1956; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Marilyn Jackson was a dedicated housewife; she was
11employed by Spiegel and retired from Carson Pirie Scott & Co.
12in 1990; she was active with Boosters for Christ, the
13Housewives' Club of the YWCA, and the local parent and
14teacher's organization; she was also a licensed missionary; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Marilyn Jackson enjoyed her duties as First Lady
16of her husband's church, which included, providing meals for
17special events, organizing teas as fundraisers, and clothing
18give-a-ways; her community work included giving out food for
19the holidays and being of service to all of those in need; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Marilyn Jackson was preceded in death by her
21parents; her stepfather, William McNabb; her 2 sisters, Juanita

1(Ernest) and Maggie Anderson; and her 2 brothers, Leon Ridgner
2(Virginia) and Cleophes Ridgner, Jr.; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Marilyn Jackson is survived by her husband, Rev.
4Thomas Jackson, Jr.; her sister, Cleola Mae Bates; her 4
5children, Toby, Thomas III (Marie), Mark, and Judie; numerous
6grandchildren; numerous great-grand-children; her special
7niece, Debra Ridgner; and a host of nieces, nephews, other
8relatives, friends, and neighbors; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Marilyn Jackson, and extend our sincere condolences to her
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Marilyn Jackson as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
