SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

625 ILCS 10/15

Amends the Motor Vehicle Theft Reporting Act. Provides that for each day after the discovery that a motor vehicle in possession of a motor vehicle repair station has been stolen, and a report has not been made to a police department or sheriff's department, shall be a separate violation.

A BILL FOR

AN ACT concerning transportation.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Motor Vehicle Theft Reporting Act is amended by changing Section 15 as follows:

Sec. 15. Penalty. A person who violates Section 10 of this Act is guilty of a business offense and shall be fined not less than $501 and not more than $1,000.

Each day after the discovery that the motor vehicle in which the report is not made to the police department or sheriff's department shall be a separate violation.
