SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
225 ILCS 85/14.2 new

    Amends the Pharmacy Practice Act. Provides that any pharmacy with more than one retail location operating in this State shall collect and discard unused prescription medications, including, but not limited to, controlled substances, from residential sources in accordance with State and federal laws, including the federal Controlled Substances Act and any regulations issued pursuant thereto. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning regulation.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Pharmacy Practice Act is amended by adding
5Section 14.2 as follows:
 
6    (225 ILCS 85/14.2 new)
7    Sec. 14.2. Unused prescription medication collection. Any
8pharmacy with more than one retail location operating in this
9State shall collect and discard unused prescription
10medications, including, but not limited to, controlled
11substances, from residential sources in accordance with State
12and federal laws, including the federal Controlled Substances
13Act and any regulations issued pursuant thereto.
 
14    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
15becoming law.
