HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to hear of the passing of Antoine D. "Tony" Haddad of Peoria and wish to honor his life and pay tribute to an icon of the community; and

WHEREAS, Tony Haddad was born on May 12, 1937 in Lebanon; his parents were Dikran and Marie (nee Sabou) Haddad; he emigrated from Lebanon to the United States in 1977 with his wife, Loreece, his children, and his mother-in-law; and

WHEREAS, Tony Haddad was the determined and hard-working business owner of Haddad's Restaurant on Main Street; he also ran a pushcart outside of the Peoria County Courthouse, which has been visited by many people in the area; and

WHEREAS, Tony Haddad was an active member of the community who was known for his loving attitude and gracious generosity; and

WHEREAS, Tony Haddad's passing has been felt throughout the area from people who had a chance to meet this outstanding gentleman; they will remember his great food and great personality for many years to come; and

WHEREAS, Tony Haddad is survived by his wife, Loreece; his sons, John (Jill) Haddad, Gabe (Nidal) Haddad, Joseph (Giselle) Haddad, and Nicola (Shirley) Haddad; his daughters, Marie Batrouni and Rita (Andrew) Speck; his 18 grandchildren; and his 5 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Antoine D. "Tony" Haddad and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all of those who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Tony Haddad as an expression of our respect and deepest sympathies.
