HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to thank the members of the Raymond-Harvel Fire Department for educating students on Fire Prevention Safety and for responding to what could have been a deadly situation on December 11, 2015; and

WHEREAS, During fire prevention week training provided by Raymond Grade School and members of the Raymond-Harvel Fire Department, Kenneth Hobson was provided with information that would later help save his family's lives; and

WHEREAS, The Raymond-Harvel Fire Department covers 126 square miles and are responsible for the villages of Raymond and Harvel; the firefighters teach local students, like Kenneth Hobson, how to prevent fires from occurring as well as what to do in the case of a fire emergency during "Fire Prevention Week" in October; during "Fire Prevention Week", fire drills accompany the fire safety information that is provided; and

WHEREAS, On December 11, 2015, the Raymond-Harvel Fire Department responded to a call at 5:01 A.M.; 20 members of the Department were on the scene of the fire until 6:57 A.M.; and

WHEREAS, Approximately 20 volunteer members were on the scene of the house fire at Kenneth Hobson's home, out of a total of 30 volunteer firefighters on the roster at the Raymond-Harvel Fire Department; and

WHEREAS, The Raymond-Harvel Fire Department's estimated response time was 3 or 4 minutes and their Department also assists neighboring communities when needed; and

WHEREAS, The Raymond-Harvel Fire Department's Chief is Danny McCallum; Greg Holder is the Raymond Captain and Jim Clayton is the Harvel Captain; and

WHEREAS, The Raymond-Harvel Fire Department is a member of the 3M Firefighter's Association and MABAS #56; and

WHEREAS, The Raymond-Harvel Fire Department worked quickly, efficiently, and flawlessly when responding to a house fire that could have ended tragically; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we honor and thank the members of the Raymond-Harvel Fire Department for their heroic actions and wish them the best in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Raymond- Harvel Fire Department as a symbol of our great respect and esteem.
