HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to honor Chicago Police Department Probationary Officer Nicholas Picicci on the occasion of his courageous actions in saving the life of a 62-year-old man in Chicago; and

WHEREAS, During his first day on the job, Officer Nicholas Picicci was patrolling with Officer Robert Cavaiani near the intersection of Belmont and Austin Avenues in Chicago on November 8, 2015 when they got a call about a medical emergency several blocks away; they raced to the 3100 block of North Marmora Avenue, where they found a family performing CPR on a 62-year-old man on the floor of his bathroom; the man was unresponsive, and the officers were unable to determine any signs of life, a heartbeat, or breathing; and

WHEREAS, Undeterred by the man's physical state, Officers Picicci and Cavaiani began performing CPR; after 5 minutes of CPR, the man's pulse returned; the Chicago Fire Department subsequently transported the man to the nearby Community First Medical Center; and

WHEREAS, The courage, dedication, and coolness under pressure exhibited by Officer Nicholas Picicci is worthy of the greatest respect; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we honor Chicago Police Department Probationary Officer Nicholas Picicci for his courageous actions in saving the life of this man and wish him great success and happiness in his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Officer Nicholas Picicci as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
