HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Robert "Bob" Buhs on the occasion of his retirement as Executive Director of the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association; and

WHEREAS, Robert Buhs was born on May 8, 1954 in Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Robert Buhs earned his Bachelor's Degree in Fire Science Management from Southern Illinois University in 1986; he subsequently earned his Master's Degree in Public Administration from Governors State University in 2003; and

WHEREAS, Robert Buhs had a long and distinguished career in firefighting; he began his career as a volunteer firefighter for the Palos Fire Protection District in 1969; in 1973, he joined the Orland Fire Protection District as a volunteer; in 1977, he became a full-time Firefighter/Paramedic with the Orland Fire Protection District, where he steadily rose through the ranks, with promotions to the ranks of Lieutenant in 1980, Deputy Chief in 1986, and Chief in 1988; he retired from the Orland Fire Protection District in 2003; and

WHEREAS, Following his retirement from the Orland Fire Protection District, Robert Buhs served as Executive Director of the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association from 2003 until his retirement in 2014; and

WHEREAS, Robert Buhs enjoys bird hunting, skeet shooting, and trap shooting; and

WHEREAS, Robert Buhs married his loving wife, Jennie, on September 8, 1974 and has 2 children, Gina and Beau, and 2 grandchildren, Ava and Owen; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Robert "Bob" Buhs on the occasion of his retirement and wish him continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Robert Buhs as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
