HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Commonwealth Edison delivers electricity to 3.8 million customers across northern Illinois, with 1.2 million customers in the Chicago area alone; and

WHEREAS, Commonwealth Edison has dedicated $50 million over 5 years in financial assistance to fund energy programs for low-income customers, military families, senior citizens, and anyone who may have experienced a job loss, illness, disability, or other hardship; the company seeks to extend this assistance for an additional $50 million over 5 years; and

WHEREAS, The State of Illinois, in the midst of a budget impasse, has been unable to fulfill its traditional duties of administering Commonwealth Edison's energy assistance programs; and

WHEREAS, Commonwealth Edison has generously offered assistance in processing applications for financial assistance offered by the utility; the company has also hired 24 former CEDA personnel from the social services agencies, stepping up for the State; and

WHEREAS, Beginning on August 1, 2015, Commonwealth Edison will host energy fairs and open 11 temporary mobile satellite locations to help enroll those in need of financial assistance, providing much-needed funding to customers until all such funds are exhausted; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we thank Commonwealth Edison for helping those in need with financial assistance for energy programs; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Anne Pramaggiore, President and CEO of Commonwealth Edison, as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
