HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of former Hinsdale Police Chief James A. Eccardt of Westmont, who passed away on June 3, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Chief Eccardt grew up in Berwyn; he served in the United States Marines during the Vietnam War and was a Purple Heart recipient; and

WHEREAS, Chief Eccardt worked for the Hinsdale Police Department for 31 years; he worked as detective supervisor for 10 years before being promoted to Chief; and

WHEREAS, Chief Eccardt was a loving husband, father, and grandfather; and

WHEREAS, Chief Eccardt was an avid fan of the Chicago Blackhawks and Chicago Bears; and

WHEREAS, Chief Eccardt is survived by his wife, Melanie (nee Wadas); his children, Kimberly (Joseph) Musial and James Eccardt, Jr.; and his grandchildren, Gillian, Joey, and Phoebe Musial; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of former Hinsdale Police Chief James A. Eccardt, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Chief Eccardt as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
